CORONAVIRUS LATEST NEWS: INDIAN TALLY NEAR 30,000 CASES, MAHARASHTRA WORST HIT

APRIL 28, MUMBAI


The Coronavirus Pandemic continues to spread it’s vague in the country as cases near 30,000. The current total cases stand at 29,435. Total people succumbed to the disease stand at 934. Maharashtra is the most affected state with 8,590 positive cases, out of which 5,797 cases are from Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Delhi has crossed the 3,000 marks with 3,108 positive cases reported. Other worse hit regions are Gujarat, 3,548, Rajasthan, 2,328, and Madhya Pradesh with 2,165 cases reported till now.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Chief Minister of various states yesterday, i.e.27th April. The discussion comes ahead of the reviewing of current lockdown situations and opinions regarding the extension of likely lockdown. According to sources, PM Modi will address the nation before 3rd May, when the Lockdown 2.0 is about to end.

Modi also conveyed all the Chief Ministers to continue the extension of lockdown in hotspots after 3rd May. The Economic crisis is increasing rapidly and the Government is easing restrictions in some parts of the country. However, Odisha and Meghalaya CM’s have suggested extending the lockdown.

The virus has also cast it’s deepening impact on Police Officers with Mumbai having the most number of positive personnel in India. Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh today conveyed all the police staff above 55 years and those with illness to stay home and off duty.

Mumbai City is the worst affected region in India. Mumbai Coronavirus cases stand at 5,797. The worst-hit division is the South Mumbai, especially Worli where the positive cases are nearly 2,000. Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum has also been affected and has reported around 288 cases and 13 deaths.


The Indian Olympic Association today said that it today received a notification from International Olympic Committee that in view of the current pandemic scenario, the decision regarding hosting of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 stands uncertain.
