IPL 2021 : He Told Me To Seal The Win, I Told Him To Get To His Century First: Virat Kohli on Devdutt Padikkal

Yesterday a brilliant Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals in the battle of Royals at Wankhede Stadium. Challengers finished off the game by chasing down a total of 178 and not losing a single wicket. The game was finished by the 16th. Captain Virat hit a brilliant knock of 72 off 47 deliveries with 6 fours and 3 sixes. But his fellow batsman Devdutt Padikkal stole the show as the youngster hit his first IPL century yesterday. The promising young man scored 101 off just 52 balls, with 11 fours and 6 sixes.

“It was an outstanding inning. He batted really well for his first season last time. There was a lot of talk about him not accelerating after getting to his 30s. He’s put all that to rest. It was a good pitch to bat on, to be honest, and him being tall meant that bowlers struggled with their lengths”, said Kohli during the post-match presentation.

“We spoke about it (on the 100). He told me to finish it off, I told him to get to it first. He said many will come, I said yes you can say that after you get to the landmark. He deserved to get the three-figure mark,” added Kohli.
