MUMBAI, 29TH APRIL

The University Grants Commission (UGC) ended all the speculations about the End Semester Exams of all universities across India. An expert committee was set up by the Human Resource Development(HRD) Ministry to assist UGC to address the concerns of university students regarding the academic calendar and examinations.

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

The UGC said that the University examinations in states where the Covid-19 situation has normalized will be held in the month of July.
“Intermediate students will be graded on an internal assessment of the present and previous semester. In states where the Covid-19 situation has normalized, there will be exams in the month of July. For terminal semester students, exams will be held in July,” the UGC said.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The Colleges under Universities and Autonomous will reopen for the fresh students in the month of September.
For the intermediate students, the colleges will reopen in the month of August, keeping in mind the situation.

UGC GUIDELINES

The UGC while addressing university examinations schedule, also laid down guidelines to the states. 
Universities may follow a six-day week pattern and also a device proforma record travel or stay a history of staff and students for the lockdown period. Extension of M.Phil, Ph.D. students and viva-voice be conducted through video conference,” UGC said.

The commission also clarified that the guidelines are advisory in nature and varsities may chalk out their own plan taking consideration issues pertaining to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
