On 22, April 2021; Riot Games unveiled their report of the investigation of their two-month-long investigation into the reported match-fixing in China’s LPL(League of Legends Pro League) and LDL(League of Legends Development League) leagues.
Various players and coaches have been accused of match-fixing and have been issued various punishments according to the severity of their actions. Three players from LPL, 35 players, managers, and coaches from LDL have been issued with suspensions and lifetime bans. In the LPL, FPX Jungler Zhou Bo Yang-Bo and Thunder Talk’s support Wang Teeen Yao-Ji have been issued a 4-month suspension while another Thunder Talk player, juggler Xiang Bless Yi-Tong has received a suspension of 12 months.
In the LDL, the entire roster of Sheng-Jie gaming has been disqualified from the LDL, with its players receiving various suspensions with Spunk receiving the longest one. Also, 11 more players, coaches and managers were issued lifetime ban. The aspiring jungler Bo from FPX submitted that he was coerced into match fixing during his LDL matches and also added a list of number of match-fixers, which were also involved in previous cases of fixing.
Bo also posted in an official apology, saying he has spent this past period of time regretting and suffering for his actions and unable to face anyone.
