Indian Railways Cancels Regular Trains Till August 12! Read More Here
The Indian Railway Ministry issued a statement on Thursday (25/06/2020) that all regular trains have been canceled till August 12, 2020. This means every mail, express, and passenger trains will be shut till the 12th of August 2020. Similarly, the EMU operations will be completely shut till August 12.
As a result of this decision, all tickets booked between 1 July to 12 August have been automatically CANCELLED! As per Railway policy, passengers will receive a 100% refund of their ticket amount. However, the operations of the 230 special trains will continue.
With June 1, India entered its first unlock phase i.e Unlock 1.0. Though the Indian Government has lifted several restrictions, the virus still continues to spread. After battling the virus for almost 2 months, India’s recovery rate was higher than the infections in June 2020. However, due to these relaxations, the cases have again started to spike. Due to a surge in active cases, the Railway Ministry of India has taken the decision to cancel all regular trains till August 12, 2020.
