Srinagar: A complete two-day curfew has been imposed in Srinagar ahead of the 1st anniversary of Article 370 repeal. The Government revoked the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370 in 2019. A move seen as unconstitutional by many, several more have welcomed the move. Following the Article 370 Repeal, Jammu and Kashmir were divided as 2 separate Union Territories. Hence, the J&K Government has issued a two-day complete curfew on 4th and 5th August 2020 as a precautionary measure. As per the Intel report, there are chances of violent protests erupting across the J&K capital ahead of the 1st anniversary of Article 370 repeal.

This order was issued by the District Magistrate citing a possibility of violent protest arising across Srinagar ahead of the 1st anniversary of Article 370 repeal. According to officials, separatists and Pakistan sponsored groups are planning to observe August 5 as a Black Day as a response to the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A. This has mostly raised the apprehension of violent protests and other forms of violence to take place in the J&K Capital. To prevent any damage to property and loss of life, the District Magistrate has announced a two-day complete curfew in Srinagar ahead of the 1st Anniversary of Article 370 Repeal.  As a result of the curfew, there will be complete restrictions on movement throughout the district on 4th and 5th August
