Due to an extreme surge in cases of the coronavirus, Pune went into a strict lockdown from 13th July to 23 July 2020. The lockdown will be imposed in two phases, strict lockdown from 13-18 July and a eased restrictions from 18th to 23 July 2020. And as per the statement by Pune District Collector Naval Kishor Ram, ;lockdown in Pune wont be extended after July 23.

When asked about the status of lockdown post 23rd July 2020, Pune District Collector has said that imposed lockdown wont be extended after July 23. He also said that the authorities are looking at easing more and more restrictions. He also said that a few relaxations will be imposed by the coming weekend. The currently imposed lockdown has put major hurdles in the slowly recovering economy with daily wage workers, farmers, grocers, etc, hit the worst.
