The outbreak of the coronavirus has crippled the world through and through. It has been over 6 months since the massive pandemic has started and there is still no cure in sight. As the death rate increases by the minute, the world order is trying its best to stay afloat. 

In the midst of all this, a Chinese City has been put on high alert after reports of a new virus called the Bubonic Plague. According to an official media report from china, Bayannur in the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, announced a level III warning after a suspected case of the Bubonic Plague emerged into the city. 

The Xinhua News Agency reported on July 1 that there have been two confirmed cases of the Bubonic Plague so far, a 27-year-old resident along with his 17-year-old brother. The brothers had consumed marmot meat. 

What Is The Bubonic Plague A.K.A Black Death?

Bubonic Plague, also known as Black Death, is a rare infection transmitted via rodents and fleas. It is a highly serious bacterial infection and can be transmitted to humans from other animals. The disease is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected flea or from prolonged exposure of bodily fluids with a dead infected-plague animal.
 According to the WHO, the Bubonic Plague can kill an adult within 24 hours of infection if not treated immediately. As per the official scientific report, the Bubonic Plague can result in the death of 30% to 60% of the infected people if they aren't treated immediately.

A person infected with the Bubonic Plague will exhibit the following symptoms:
  • Swollen Lymph Nodes in the groin, armpit, or neck.
  • Fever
  • Chills 
  • Headaches
  • Muscle Aches
