VASAI ROAD - GORAKHPUR TRAIN LANDS IN ROURKELA, ORISSA: PASSENGERS LEFT CLUELESS
MAY 23, ROURKELA
A Shramik Special Train from Vasai Road (Mumbai) to Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), accidentally landed in Rourkela, Orissa. This left the stranded passengers clueless as Rourkela Junction was no where a part of their journey. Passengers questioned the authorities as soon as they had a long halt at Rourkela Junction.
After speaking to the Railway Authorities of Rourkela Junction, they said that the halt at Rourkela was a ‘Planned Diversion.’ The Station Manager said that he had a telephonic conversation with Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Eastern Railways and he received a fax for the same diversion.
The reason for diversion mentioned by the CPRO was that there was already congestion of Shramik Special Trains on the railway tracks of Uttar Pradesh. So we decided to opt an alternate route from Chhatisgarh and Orissa.
However, on questioning that whether the passengers were informed about the diversion, he said that they were known upon arrival on the station. Does this clearly signifies the failure of authorities to prerequisite the passengers?
This picture is the route of the Shramik Special Train from Vasai Road to Gorakhpur. There is no mention of Rourkela. The netizens pointed out the error and posted on social media. Many people questioned the railway authorities over this unplanned error. Earlier it was mentioned that the driver had lost the route. This gained spark on social media and the Western Railways was tagged and questioned over the mishap.
In the end, the migrant laborers are the sufferers. They have already struggled a lot in this lockdown and when it was finally their time to return home, a diversion took place.
We condemn the decision of the authorities and request them to solve the issue and help people reach their home with speed and safety.
