One of the most popular media networks, The Deccan Herald is accused of publishing fake news and defaming a family from Bhatkal Area’s Madina Colony in the Dakshin Kannada Area of Mangaluru City.
The news was not verified and claimed to be false by the authorities and the angry citizens are lashing out at the 70 year-old news network.
What is the story?
According to our sources, a girl from Madina Colony, Bhatkal Area, which is a Covid-19 hotspot and completely sealed, had accidentally broken her hand on Saturday Night. Her family along with her rushed to a nearby private hospital on Sunday morning, crossing the check points at Madina Colony and Udupi. The condition of her hand was the pass for the family to get out.
The Deccan Herald published an article the next day that the girl and her family hid from the hospital authorities that they are from Madina Colony. Deccan Herald also claimed that the hospital staff and doctors quarantined themselves and lodged a complaint with the Police Station.
The information published was completely false. The hospital authorities denied the information published by Deccan Herald and said that the family cooperated with the authorities and also gave their Aadhar Card when asked. They also claimed that they did not lodge any police complaint.
